As an FNP, I am trained to work with patients in a holistic manner. I enjoy getting to know my patients and understand their health goals, then work with them on a plan to achieve those goals. I enjoy working in mental health because it's an area of health care that is very underserved and yet has such a great need. When you are able to meet patients exactly where they are at and then begin to see them make progress towards their health goals, it can be very rewarding for both of us. I am a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who is passionate about connecting with my clients to determine an individual treatment plan that works. I have extensive experience in both inpatient and outpatient mental health settings, but have found helping individuals in the community to be most fulfilling. I obtained my bachelorette in nursing from Ohio University and my Master of Science in Nursing from Maryville University where the focus was in mental health. My expertise is in utilizing the best evidence available to guide treatment decisions while incorporating a holistic approach unique to the individual. I understand that starting medication can be a big decision, and in some cases medication may not be appropriate; I do not “push meds”. Connecting with each client is a vital part of my practice. I view each person as important, not “a number“. I find checking in regularly about goals and current satisfaction helps foster a trusting client/provider relationship focused on growth.
I specialize in the treatment of ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, OCD, and Bipolar Disorder II, and work under the supervision and collaboration of a psychiatrist

When was the last time you felt in control of your life? Or capable of handling every curve ball thrown your way? We all have challenges, but we equally have strengths. Let me help you untangle the things keeping you from that best version of you.
I provide a compassionate, non-judgmental space to work thorough whatever is holding you back. As a Master of Social Work candidate specializing in depression/anxiety, best life, and grief I bring a deep understanding of the challenges individuals face when dealing with these mental health issues. I assist as you explore emotions, develop coping strategies, and find hope amidstruggles.
My personal experience of life reorganization and loss ignited apassion for helping others navigate their own journeys. Drawing from evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), I empowerclients to heal, grow, and find their best lives. I use the complex interplay between biological, psychological, and social factors that contribute to these conditions and a holistic approach to treat the whole client. Through a combination of psychoeducation, therapy techniques, and collaborative goal-setting, clients manage their symptoms, build resilience, and improve their overall quality of life.
I believe that every individual has the potential to become their best version of self, regardless of the challenges they may face. I am committed to helping clients discover and cultivate their strengths, enabling them to achieve personal growth and live fulfilling lives by empowering them as they identify and leverage their unique abilities, talents, and resources. Clients set meaningful goals, develop healthy coping mechanisms, and cultivate positive self-esteem. Through the therapeutic process, Iguide individuals in exploring their values, passions, and aspirations, supporting them in aligning their actions and choices with their authentic selves.

Rachel has a wide range of experience from working or interning in many settings with children, teens, and adults. At FAR Conservatory of Therapeutic and Performing Arts Rachel got to facilitate art therapy and counseling to schools, group homes, assisted livings, and saw individual clients as well.
Rachel’s therapeutic approach is to meet every client where they are at. I believe that therapy is a comfortable space for people to share their thoughts, feelings, and, emotions. Also I believe that the counseling/art therapy experience is a shared journey where both the therapist and the client figure out what kinds of tools will help each other in creating a treatment plan, goals, and what to work on during sessions. My approach to therapy focuses on the whole person, I focus on empathy, self-awareness, mindfulness, and expressing oneself. I tend to draw from a variety of counseling approaches I find it useful to tailor the counseling/art therapy session to each client that I have.

I am married with two children. I have Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Northern Michigan University and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Oakland University. I received my certificate for teaching music through Wayne State University. I have held jobs in customer service, taught vocal music, and was a substitute teacher. After my last customer service job, I decided to become a stay-at-home dad. After five years in that role, I decided to start focusing on things I could do, rather than the things I am no longer able to do because of my Becker Muscular Dystrophy. I finally decided that I can help people through social work and I am driven to help others in lifesituationss they go through.

I am a Graduate student at Wayne State University currently completing my Social Work Master’s degree and internship. I recently completed my Bachelor of Social Work and Minor in Psychology at Wayne State University as well. I have had the privilege in advocating for and providing services for families with children who were victims of abuse. I have worked with families in their journey towards healing and becoming the best version of themselves as they can be through providing a safe and judgement-free space. I speak both Spanish and English, which only aided the services I was able provide families. I believe my own culture, spirituality, morals, and experiences will help me connect with many. Our experiences shape who we are, but it is up to us on how those experiences take their effect. Life can be unpredictable, but by balancing what it throws at us may we find peace.
